Coming Home to Wholeness
ICBT and IFS Informed Therapy for OCD
For Transformation And Living From Your True Self
Hello, and a very warm welcome to this page of ICBT and IFS Informed Therapy for OCD: Living from your True Self.
A Compassionate Co-created Approach to Therapy
If you’re living with OCD, you may be caught in exhausting loops of intrusive thoughts, urges to perform rituals, and the overwhelming need for certainty. You may feel trapped in your own mind—compelled to check, review, seek reassurance, or mentally replay events—just to restore a fragile sense of calm. And yet, no matter how much you try to “get it right,” the doubts return. This can feel endless. If you've tried other therapies before, parts of you may feel like they are on the treadmill - coping as best they can to help you - keeping you safe - with no real hope of deep, transformational, change.
A Different Way to Understand OCD
In Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (ICBT) combined with IFS (Internal Family Systems Therapy), we understand OCD differently from traditional “exposure” approaches. OCD’s intrusive thoughts don’t begin as random, meaningless “brain glitches.” They start with a doubt story—a moment when your mind infers that something bad might be true, even though there’s no "real" evidence.
This initial doubt often feels compelling because it’s tied to your values, your sense of responsibility, and your desire to protect your identity, to prevent bad things from happening, or others from harm.
The problem is that once this initial mistaken inference takes hold, your mind treats it as if it were true—triggering anxiety, compulsions, and endless mental reviewing. ICBT helps you identify and correct these faulty inferences at their root, before the OCD cycle gains momentum.
IFS brings a whole new dimension of your Self to your parts', their strategies, and realities, to give all parts of you a good, strong, experience and sense of Self, from which to begin to live.
Why This Approach Works
We Focus on the Start of the OCD Cycle
Rather than challenging the content of intrusive thoughts after they’ve already escalated, ICBT goes back to the very beginning—pinpointing the moment your mind took a false turn into doubt.
The tricks and cheats of OCD, which convinces parts of you that the content of your thoughts is real, and that your "feared self" - which is the antithesis of your Self - is more real than your actual Self, are untangled in therapy, so that OCD loses the power of its convincement strategies; which means you can become free of OCD'S imagined, safety-seeking inappropriate ideas of success - which limits your life and your realities, in exchange for truer more resourceful realities and the success of Self-actualisation and truly living your life.
No Flooding or Forcing
There is no need for prolonged distress or repetitive exposure. ICBT and IFS uses gentle, structured methods to help you see how the feared scenario was a possibility your mind invented—not a fact based in present reality.
Values and Beliefs Are Respected
OCD often attaches to what you care about most—your morality, your faith, your relationships, your safety, your identity. ICBT and IFS works without undermining these values, so your recovery is in harmony with what matters most to you.
Lasting Change
When you can consistently recognize and disengage from faulty inferences, the fuel for OCD’s cycle disappears. You regain the ability to face uncertainty without rituals, freeing time, energy, and attention for the true life you want to live.
What OCD Really Is—and What It Isn’t
OCD is not a sign you’re “irrational,” “weak,” or “broken.” It is the result of a particular thinking style—one that over-relies on possibility and imagination, while sidelining real-world evidence. In ICBT and IFS, we call this the “possibility-based reasoning” that starts the OCD spiral. Once you can see and step out of this style of thinking, you no longer have to get stuck in the loop.
Changing fear-based narratives to true life-affirming narratives, with experiential excercises related to your present day to day, the Presence of the real You gets stronger.
You Deserve More Than Coping. You Deserve Freedom
Healing from OCD is not about controlling every thought or tolerating endless anxiety. It’s about learning how to respond to doubt in a new way—one that leaves you free to act according to your real values, and sets you free to live your life from Who you truly are.
There is a way forward. In this therapy, we work deeply, developmentally and in the Present.
You can go back in a way to before the OCD began, underburden your parts experiences, and reform your realities, in line with what is happening in the present moment, and what you truly choose, according to the values you want to live, in connection and aligned with your true Self.
So this is a gentler form of therapy than Exposure and Response Prevention, because we care and tend to the parts of you developmentally, so that they have a choice to transform beliefs, realities, and strategies, which they may have held for years, perhaps decades, to live from more a more resourceful, and also ontologically (in-the-way-of-being-rooted-from-Source) true place in the Present moment, out of your true Self.
So all parts and Self are aligned. Which means Congruence. Then You Are Coming Home to Wholeness.
Beyond IFS and ICBT I will work with you, as you are, and whatever we come up against, and whatever resources you already have and you are bringing as part of your well-being and richness, I want to honour what that the pathway is, in learning your becoming and flourishing in this world, and that will be our teacher.
