Or parts may be so urgent that no other course of action seems possible but to undo, and get things "right," so that a temporary feeling of calm and safety is restored.

As an Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapist with a specialty in OCD, IFS offers a different way of understanding what you're going through.
Rather than fighting the OCD or managing symptoms indefinitely, we turn gently turn toward the protective parts that have been working so hard to keep you safe—and help them unburden the fears, traumas, and beliefs they’ve been carrying alone and without connection from your Self-energy.
This approach, inspired by working with many clients who experience OCD, honors every part of you, including the ones that seem irrational or overwhelming.
This is different than traditional exposure and response prevention therapy. It’s about internal connection, healing, and freedom from within. It's about parts witnessing You leading in ways that builds connection and trust.
Healing and Befriending Your Own Parts
In IFS, we come to understand that OCD is not a pathology. It’s a system of inner protectors doing the best they can to create order, structure, and meaning, and their attempts to manage and look after parts that are vulnerable and in pain.
And OCD can also be an attempt to face the real uncertainties of life, in a way which makes parts feel safer, and also sets limits on your freedom. Those limits can also withhold your parts from entering into the deepest places they need to go to live fully and become self-realised both inside and out - inside your internal family system and in the world. This can be a true existential battle or task, to be taken most seriously, in terms of becoming who you truly are, especially in terms of the most precious prized and highest lived values of your being.

It means that Your Divine Why, Why your are here, is simply more Important. Your Divine Why gives a context to any reality checking and criticisms, that these become mentorship questions, and help you grow, and aid the considerable force of love in which you are here to serve on earth.
